山田寅次郎展
1911年、⼭⽥寅次郎は「⼟⽿古畫觀（とるこがかん）」を出版する。そこには当時のコンスタンティノープルの様⼦が細やかに記録され、描かれたモノクロのスケッチは当時の⾵⼟や⼈々の⽣活を丁寧に写し出している。シンプルな線画でありながらも、建物の陰影や⼈々の表情をとらえる１枚１枚は、描かれた世界に吸い込まれていくような不思議な魅⼒をもつ。
展⽰では何⼗枚もあるスケッチからオスマントルコの空気が伝わる11枚を選んだ。それら⼀つ⼀つを等⾝⼤かそれ以上に⼤きく広げ、ドローイングの世界を起ち上げた。インクのタッチや紙のざらりとした質感が残るほど⾼精細にスキャンされたデータを描画ソフトで拡⼤、特殊なプラスチックフィルムに印刷した。モスクや橋、道⾏く⼈々、装飾や⽣活⽤品などが描かれたいくつもの絵は、巨⼤なタペストリーとなって展⽰室の空間を埋めていく。建築家マリオボッタが⼿掛けた⼒強いコンクリートの世界の中に、0.3mmの透明なフィルムが異国の輪郭を描き始めた。ドローイングは⽩⿊反転し、背景の⿊地に展⽰室の空間が映り込むこともあれば、⽩地のラインが奥の景⾊に透けることもある。そうして絵の世界と現実の空間が混ざりあい、⼀つの舞台をつくる。そこでは寅次郎の記憶のコンスタンティノープルが再演され、私たちはその中へ投げ込まれる。
In 1911, Torajiro Yamada published "Torukogakan"(Drawings in Turkey) . In this book, he depicted the scenes of Constantinople at that time. The black-and-white sketches depicted in the book show the scenery and people's lives at the time. The black-and-white sketches carefully depict the life of the people and the scenes of the time. The simple line drawings capture the shadows of the buildings and the expressions of the people. For the exhibition, we have selected 11 sketches from a total of several hundred that convey the atmosphere of Ottoman Turkey. The drawings were all enlarged to the size of a full nave, or even larger, and a world of drawings was created. The scanned data, which is so high-resolution that it retains the touch of ink and the rough texture of the paper, is enlarged using drawing software and printed on a special plastic film. The paintings of mosques, bridges, people on the street, decorations and daily necessities become a huge tapestry that fills the space of the exhibition room. In the powerful concrete world created by architect Mario Botta, a 0.3mm transparent film begins to draw the outline of a foreign country. The drawings are reversed from White to Black, sometimes the black background reflects the space of the exhibition room, and sometimes the lines of the White background show through the scenery in the back.In this way, the world of the picture and the space of reality are blended to create a unique scene. The Constantinople of Torajiro's memory is reenacted, and we are thrown into it.
