I dreamed of creating a tea house surrounded by the trees of the forest. When I visited the site with the client, a 7.7m square wooden deck had already been built on the mountainside. The wind blew and the long, thin trees rustled and swayed. Just lying down on the deck was a pleasant experience. On the floor, which reflects the surroundings dully, a 13-meter-diameter steel bar, a small desk, and flower vases were set up, and a 1.9-meter-diameter ring floated in the grove of trees. A canopy of removable water-repellent sheets was hung to retain the flow of air and create the contours of the space. The swaying trees and a few artifacts create a space for chanoyu in the midst of the rustle.
